Start from the prefilled example, swap in your own business name, address and contact details, then add the client you are billing. Give the invoice a number, set the issue and due dates and choose your currency. As soon as you add line items with a quantity and rate, the subtotal, tax and total calculate themselves.
Getting the details right matters because a clear invoice gets paid faster. Each line item has room for a plain description so your client knows exactly what they are paying for. The tax field takes any percentage, which works for VAT, GST, sales tax or no tax at all, and the optional discount is applied to the subtotal before tax. Payment terms and thank-you notes go in the notes box at the bottom, which is a good place to spell out how and when you expect to be paid.

The file is generated on your own device using a proper layout with a header band, itemized table and totals summary, so it looks professional in any PDF viewer or email client.
